Comforting Us With All Comforts

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God ".11 Corinthians 1 : 3-4.

Every living creature  thrives when they are comfortable .
Plants flourish when they are well-watered, birds, animals and even wild beasts  are tamed when  they are well cared for and pampered.
Humans feel better and look better when  they are in a state of all-round well-being .
The search  for a comfortable existence is indeed the spur  to most  human endeavours.
Confidence , joy and the zeal for great exploits are the benefits enjoyed  in a stress-free state. because relief , especially long-sought - for relief , brings immeasurable gladness,  joy and comfort .
When we are comforted , we attain the state of mind which gives relief from all worries  and which ushers in  peace of mind .
Then sighs are turned into  smiles , frowning  brows  ease into smoothness , anxiety changes to assurance and there is a lifting up of  heads which were bowed in despair.
Conversely , discomfort  causes distress , sorrow, depression and  a host of other physical and emotional ailments.
Therefore , the search  for  lasting solutions  and comfort is vital because comfort  brings relief, growth and progress..
Little wonder  that  people would search  for relief  and comforts from  wherever they think they could  find it ; even from people and places which  they would not , normally , associate with  by choice.

When you are facing the challenges of  an unpleasant situation , who and where is your first  port of call when you go searching for your  desired comfort and relief  ?
"Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread ? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness ". Isaiah 55 : 2 .
The lifestyle which is based on  the  perspective of searching  for solutions  and comforts from anywhere, anyhow and  from anybody  is that of the doctrine of "the end justifies the means".
Would you desire to to attain permanent relief  ; and  be free and free in deed  ?
Comfort  and relief  must  endure  for their desired lasting effects to be felt  and seen  in  a person's life.
The search f or  solutions , for comfort and for relief does  not  end  with  the cessation  of  the dilemma , the  pain  and affliction ; but the search  must  be anchored on  the  continuous  and permanent  impartation  of comfort.
" Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? " Jeremiah 8 : 22.
Therefore the  source and  the type of relief and comfort  sought for must  be able  to  impact lasting  solutions and relief ; if  not,  there would  be  a relapse ,a return  back  to those  distressful situations , again  and again
Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured " Jeremiah 46: 11.
Applying unprofitable counsel  and  defective solutions to resolve stressful situations  would compound the situations further ;  leading to greater problems , chaos and even death and destruction
"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness".
 Proverbs 14: 12-13.

The best solution to an unpleasant situation must  usher in  the desired  enduring reliefs , stability  and good testimonies.
Who are your "comforters and counsellors "?
The reliable  and  profitable Comforter must  be someone who has a track -record of being able to intervene in unpleasant situations and  to give  permanent solutions , reliefs and comfort  to the afflicted soul .
"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." John 8:36.
The place  of  relief  is the place of  rest , of  rejoicing  and peace ; and it is a place of testimonies .
The  benefits which  accompany  comfort  and relief  must  be evident  to the receivers  and  to witnesses.
" Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls ". Matthew 11: 28-29.
After  we have been  comforted on all sides, testimonies must flow from our lips and  even  from the lips of people  who never expected us to  receive our desired solutions and  comforts
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits Psalm 103: 2:

" I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes ." Psalm 118:21-23.

As we seek the God of  all comforts , surely , we shall receive  all -encompassing  joy  and relief.
May our testimonies be full  and may they flow  from our mouths and from  the mouths of our enemies , continually.  Amen.
