The Pleasures of Worship

"And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!
And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD".
2 Samuel 23:15,16.

"Worship", usually, conjures a picture of praising God with slow songs, low- sounding organ music, with our eyes closed and hands clasped in " humble adoration".
Worship entails music and praise; for worship is praise and praise is worship.
However Worship is more than the words and the instruments of our worship songs.
God the Father is seeking for true worshippers who would worship him in spirit and in truth. If we are going to worship in Spirit, we must develop a spirit of worship.
True worship begins in holy expectancy and it ends in holy obedience.

"The only music minister to whom the Lord will say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," is the one whose life proves what their lyrics are saying, and to whom music is the least important part of their life.
Glorifying the only worthy One has to be a minister's most important goal!"
~ Keith Green

Worship is recognizing God for who He is; it is ascribing worth to Him; it is God's people telling Him about the worth they see in Him.
That they see so much worth, glory , praise and honour in Him that they are willing to surrender everything in their being and in their lives ; just to worship Him.
The lifestyle of Worship is the Christian's duty . Ecclesiastes 12:13.
Worship , therefore is
surrender to God in obedience ; obedience that is born out of trust and love for God because we know that He has been faithful to us, He's been good and He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.
According to the power( of His praise and worship) that dwells in us. Ephesians 3:20.

King David, one of the greatest worshippers who ever lived, was a man after God's heart, because David talked, sang and walked in worship!
The power of God's praise and worship dwelled in David.
He went the extra mile to give God unusual worship, before and during his reign as King of Israel and throughout his life.
David sang and danced without restraint, in private and in public to show his appreciation of God. 2 Samuel 6:12-19.
David was not only a prolific writer of Psalms, also he commissioned song writers , singers and instrumentalists to offer praise to God daily in the Temple.
As a boy, David worshipped God by lifting up the banner of the God of Israel in victory . His unusual act of worship was that he laid his life on the line to challenge and slay Goliath, when defeat and shame stared the hosts of Israel in the face! 1 Samuel 16:43-54.
Even when he was at the battle front, hiding in caves and surrounded by his enemies, David still offered unusual worship to God. 2 Samuel 23:17
Rather than drink the water from the well at Bethlehem which he longed for and which his men risked their lives to get for him, David worshipped God by pouring out the "precious water", unto God as a sacrifice in worship.

May God fill us with the grace for revelation of Him ;to know God as David knew Him and to worship God and dance before God like David did .
David received the rewards of a worshipper throughout his reign as king of Israel.
He enjoyed the presence and the favour of Jehovah which ensured that David got astonishing victories over both his internal and external enemies.
"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore".Psalm 16:11.
Before David died , he got the promise of God that God will establish his household and his throne for ever. 2 Samuel 7:8-17.
Jesus Christ ,the King of Kings and the Lion of the Tribe of Judah was a descendant of King David. Jesus , Son of the Living God , son of David , reigns forever more.
"Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Isaiah 9 :7.

May we receive the pleasures and joys of His presence as we worship Him like David did. Amen.
