FREE INDEED !

In an ideal setting ,there is rest and security; there is peace and quiet from every storm. This ideal situation is good and normal and desired by all.
The other side of this coin is a situation of chaos and defeat; resulting in the inability to achieve desired goals in the life of a person.

How does crippling inability come into a person's life ?
Inability is the distortion or cessation of all that is good and normal.
Evil is the opposite of Good. Inability is caused by an encounter with or an infiltration by an evil force with the intention of stunting and destroying that life. Evil has the power to change lives by manifesting in people's lives as:
i) Stupor or paralysis i.e a state of being semi-consciousness or immobile.
In this state, the victim is aware of his undesirable surroundings
and his situation. He or she knows that things are not what or how they should
be in his life.He knows he could do better or move up to a better situation.
But stupor and paralysis render him unable to help himself.
ii) Oppression. This is an imposition of a
burden/yoke on a person by an oppressor which makes the victim to be bent down.
Bent double, unable to raise his head and walk proudly as he should.
An oppressor is a stronger evil person, force or condition which overpowers
and torments victims with the sole aim of slowing down, of distorting and
destroying destinies.
iii) Bondage. This is a state of being restrained in chains and fetters and it is a state of darkness and imprisonment .

The common threads that run through the above situations are the threads of pain, shame, imprisonment, darkness, loss and defeat. In each case, the victim contends with a stronger oppressor who delights in maintaining the status quo of evil by keeping the victim perpetually bound and restrained.

Usually, the victim is aware that he is in the wrong place and in dire straits.
He hungers and thirst for change, for relief and for a restoration of his rights and liberties.
He is realistic of his inability to help himself and he consciously needs a deliverer and saviour.Usually, he cries out for help and looks forward to the day he will breathe the air of freedom ;the day he will see the light of a new dawn .
That is,the day of salvation.

Exceptions to this desire for freedom from captivity are the following:
i) Captives who desire to be free but have accepted their fate as hopelessly sealed. They have lost hope and have come to believe that their captors and prison walls are too formidable for anyone to deliver them.
ii) Ignorance and Pride in captives prevent some from seeing their bondage and oppressions as such .They do not see anything wrong in their lives and reason that they are "doing just fine" and that theirs is the best lifestyle!
So they don't want to know about any "freedom, deliverer or whatever!"
Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad ; and a gift destroyeth the heart. Ecclesiastes 7:7
iii)Captives who suffer from "Stockholm Syndrome".
This is an emotional attachment to an oppressor or a captor by a prisoner as a result of continuous stress, dependence and a need to cooperate for survival.
There are cases of captives who have become so used to their long-time oppressors to the extent of accepting them as lover and saviour; even worshipping them as "god".
When they are rescued , such captives have been seen still clinging to their captors , refusing to heed the voice of their liberators to come out of their prisons!

The day of salvation is the day of encounter. An encounter with Divine Power.
That is the Power that is greater than the power of the oppressor. For it is only a greater power that can overcome the lesser power of the oppressor and deliver the captive from the clutches of the oppressor.
"But thus says the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away , and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee; and I will save thy children". Isaiah 49:25

This greater power is the power for change and is ever -present for every willing captive who is ready to avail him/herself of the power to change lives- for good.
"The cowering captives will soon be set free;
they will not die in their dungeon, nor will they lack bread.
For I am the Lord thy God,who churns the sea so that its waves roar-
the Lord Almighty is his name " Isaiah 51:14,15.

This power can make every deaf ear to be opened; every heart of stone to be melted down ; every dead (captive) brain to spring to life and every scale to fall from eyes that are blind!
"Verily, verily,I say unto you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live". John 5:25.
